DESCRIPTION:The celebration\nThe Day is a celebration organized by the London Mayor and is a free event in Trafalgar Square running from 12.00 to 6.00. There will be live music\, dancing\, workshops . crafts and food stalls. The last act last year was a five-piece folk band with a caller and dancing in the square attended by some of the Chelsa pensioners who were really joining in.\n\n www.london.gov.uk/events/st-georges-day-2026\n\nAfter the celebration\nAfter the event we can go for a meal in Chinatown or go to the Hippodrome which is a really interesting place to visit with the history of its various incarnations over the years from the Talk of the Town\, Stringfellows to its current use. There is a very good Chinese restaurant in the basement which I would like to try.\nI am not intending we will go for the full six hours but for the second half of the afternoon.\n\nWhere to meet\nMeeting Time : 2.00 at East Croydon. We will get a train to Charing Cross and head straight to Trafalgar Square. The forecast is not looking great at the moment but hopefully will change.\n\n\nWilliam E
