SUMMARY:Builders Arms Quiz

DESCRIPTION:Alan’s Tour de France!\n \nAlan says: \nHello campers\, \nThe pressganger general has paid me a visit and as a result I have now been convinced of my desire to do a wine tasting for COPSE.  Although what a scouse knows about wine (apart from that it contains alcohol) I don’t know. \nAs per the previous wine tastings I’ve done there are a couple of basic constraints placed on the operation. \nConstraints\nFirstly\, all wines come from Europe\,  none of this new world stuff.  So if trash like Yellowtail Chardonnay floats your boat\,  this boat is not for you. \nSecondly\, cultivar is not at all important\,  in fact it is undesirable.  Growing up in South Africa the rules meant blended wines were frowned on.  Like the French\,  I believe blending delivers a better result.  So blended wine you will get. \nThirdly this is not for wine snobs. If you want to determine the presence of blackcurrants\, pepper\, raspberries\, mango\,  God knows what else this isn’t for you.  This is about simple enjoyment\,  preferably with company that does float your boat. \nTheme\nThe theme is France\,  and what kind of wine makes you happy.  To this end we will try 2 whites\,  2 rose wines and 2 reds.  For each type one will be budget and one will be more upmarket.  You decide what you like & if the upmarket wine price is worth it.  The idea is to determine whether it is worth paying more for a wine with better provenance.  There are no right answers\,  only what you think is best. \nSo come along\,  get (very slightly)  squiffy\,  tell teacher (aka me) what you think of him & go home merry. \nPrompt start at 8:30 please.  NB.  Don’t forget your £3 cash for the wine!!  (No charge if you’re not partaking and just want to say hello)!

A party of COPSE’s finest athletes have enjoyed this outing several times now\, so we’re doing it again.I’ll book (and pay for) as many lanes as we have players for\, maximum six to a lane. \nBut how do I sign up for this event?\n… you may ask. Well\, here’s the answer: \nTell me by the end of Saturday 15th February if you’re coming. DESCRIPTION:Safe Neighbourhood?\n \nTonight we have the visiting Police Community Support Officer for South Croydon’s “Safer Neighbourhoods Team” for the area  in which our hall is located.  This P.C.S.O. has knowledge and experience to share with us about the district in which we socialise\, shop and travel through. \nA police officer will be accompanying and\, through the presentation by our two guests\, we should gain useful advice about issues that might be of concern to some COPSErs.  There will be opportunity to ask questions and receive answers. \nIn order to benefit from this session\, we need to start promptly at 8.30pm because\, owing to the shift times of our guests\, they must finish about 9.15pm to return to their office and write up their day’s reports. \nWe hope as many of you as possible can arrive for teas / coffees at 8.15pm and have bottoms on seats for the 8.30pm start.  Thank you! \n  \nRegards\, \n  \nIreen Best (07968 035522) \n  \n  \n
