DESCRIPTION:This walk is 6 to 7 miles long\, fairly flat with some undulated hills but nothing too strenuous. \nWe will pass via Wakehurst Place woodlands and the Millennium Seedbank where there is a café and the chance to have a look around. \nBring your packed lunch and drinks although we will stop for a drink at the pub in Bamcombe. \nMeet East Croydon Station at 9.55to catch the 10.08 train.

SUMMARY:Stanley Halls Ceilidh - a Chance to Dance!
DESCRIPTION:A good number of COPSErs regularly enjoyed these monthly sessions\, prior to lockdown.  If you look carefully at the photo below\, you may spot a couple of our Members enjoying themselves. \nTake your feet for a treat – my term for these traditional dances is “exercise with a smile on your face”! \n \nPrices:  We can gain a good price of £9 per person\, if we pre-book at least ten tickets.  (Normal advance adult tickets are £12\, on-the-door £15.)  Please come back to me\, as soon as possible\, if you’re able to join us on Friday.  I shall pay for the group’s tickets and you can settle with me on the evening.  (Obviously\, you need to be definite about coming to be included in this discounted price.) \nIf you have not been to a ceilidh/barn dance before\, do not fear; all the sequences of movements are explained by a “caller” and we usually have a very good time. \nThe Halls have a bar.  Parking is free in the area.  Public transport options are: \nBuses: Routes 196 and 410 stop directly outside of Stanley Arts. \nRoutes 75\, 157\, 197 and 312 stop within a few minutes’ walk. \nTrains: Stanley Arts is just a five minute walk from Norwood Junction station. \nDo come back to me with any queries. \nIreen Best 07968 035522 \n\nIn Stanley Arts’ own words: \nCome one\, come all for a night of dancing and merriment just like the good old days! \nBack in November 2019\, when no one knew the word “Covid”\, The Conquering Heroes played a ceilidh (traditional dance) at Stanley Halls and an amazing time was had by all. DESCRIPTION:Primary plan – Grand Union Canal trip. \nSecondary\, if the trains are not running ride South from Croydon. \nGrand Union Trip\, assemble at East Croydon station at 10:00 to catch next train to Victoria. \nWeather and legs willing ride out to Southall and back along the Thames to Clapham Junction for train home. \nIf the trains are not good\, assemble at Canary Cafe\, Brighton Road\, opposite Whitgift School\, at 10:00 riding South via paths and lanes turning in a loop to return by bike when we feel like we feel like it.

Addington (or Shirley) Hills\, Heathfield (or “the Riesco”) estate\, Coombe Wood Gardens (cafe stop). \nAfterwards there will be an option of either \n1) the “Coombe Lodge” Beefeater pub for a meal or drinks or \n2) walking back to Lloyd Park \n+ then a tram back to East Croydon station. \n
