DESCRIPTION:The Southern Cycle Saunter is a road cycling rally with a difference. Cycle around the lanes of Surrey\, Kent or Sussex\, solve the clues to help navigate and find the checkpoints. Each checkpoint will involve a short challenge – a good fun day out for all.\nThe Start and Finish\n \nWoldingham Village Hall\, Station Road\, Woldingham\, Surrey\, CR3 7EU. \nOS MAP Explorer 146 – TQ 371 557. \nDistance approximately 20 miles. \nHall opens at 9.30am.  Teams dispatched from 10.00am. \nThe Cost \n£7.00 in advance and £9.00 for those who enter on the day (discounts for under 16s) \nAll ages are welcome – families and individuals. However\, you must enter in teams of between two and four people and at least one person in each team must be 16+. It is not a race and teams will leave at staggered intervals\, in order of solving of a Route Quiz. A trophy will be presented to the team gaining the most quiz points and there will be certificates for all finishers. Cold drinks and biscuits will be available at the checkpoints.  There will also be drinks and cakes at the finish\, included in the entry fee.. \nDress for the weather. Please consider wearing a cycle helmet and some high-visibility clothing.  Each team must have the latest Ordnance Survey map Explorer 146. Bring a packed lunch. DESCRIPTION:Assemble at Canary Cafe on the Brighton road for a 10:30 departure\, so come at 10am for a quick coffee before setting off. Just South of Whitgift School\, you can’t miss it. From there we will head further South. \nDepending on the weather\, on the day and in the days ahead\, will depend our ultimate path from Croydon. Some paths could be muddy if we have had wet weather. We have two options: \nGodstone Vinyards via Caterham – this is a circular route we took some years ago\, which was great fun. As long as it is dry under our tyres\, this route is a classic\, but it has some off road sections that might be muddy if it has been raining. Quiet back routes down through South Croydon to Caterham\, where there is an option to get the train home\, or to meet us from the train if you are running late. Then off into alpine Caterham\, over the A22 on the bridge\, and down to the Vinyards\, where there is a cafe. Back via private roads through Warlingham School\, into Warlingham\, and home down Limpsfield Road. \nKeep Cycling South. Further afield on a linear route with the train home. With good weather and strong legs we could take the high road up Riddlesdown to Warlingham\, the bike track along the Limpsfield Road to Botley Hill\, down through Clackett Lane into Limpsfield Chart\, and on to Lingfield\, or further\, with a train home once we are done. DESCRIPTION:Meet before 10.30am at East Croydon station\, ready to leave promptly on a train at 10.39\, with a day return ticket to Hurst Green.  The train calls at Sanderstead at 10.44 if you want to join it there. DESCRIPTION:Take train to Three Bridges @ 10:18 from East Croydon. \nTrains back from Eridge\, 52 minutes past the hour. \nThe old train tracks are smooth and level\, with gentle gradients\, and would suit cyclists less comfortable in traffic. The surfaces are hard gravel and stone. Getting to East Croydon\, getting out of Three Bridges\, passing through East Grinstead and getting home will still involve a little road riding\, but overall\, expect a car free experience almost all of the way. \nAbout 20 miles ride.

There’s a pub stop at the end and\, hopefully\, cake and drink options en-route. You might choose to bring a packed lunch. \nCyclists will be led on a ride of approximately fifteen miles around the same area. (Mostly on-road plus some use of firm off-road tracks; road tyres should be fine.) There will be some opportunity to link up with the walkers during the day.

SUMMARY:Southern Cycle Saunter
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a leisurely cycle ride of approximately 30 miles. Each year the route varies around the lanes of Surrey\, Kent or Sussex. Teams of up to four people cycle the route\, solving puzzles and quizzes on the way round.\nThis event is not about finishing the route in the fastest time. The aim instead is to gain the maximum number of points on the clues and quizzes. All entrants receive a certificate and the winning team gets a trophy.\nThe cost is £6 in advance and £8 for those who enter on the day (discounts for under 16s). There are drinks and refreshments en route. More details coming soon but we can announce that this year’s event starts and finishes in the village of Leigh in Surrey.

DESCRIPTION:A rural cycle adventure riding south from Sanderstead\, South Croydon “as far as you like”. \nFollowing close to the East Grinstead line\, and later\, with enough puff\, the Uckfield Line\, as far as your legs will carry you\, then home on the train to Croydon. \nThis route also allows you to oversleep and leave later\, catching us up on the train\, Jason Bourne spy film style. \nSome waypoints and landmarks en route: \nRiddlesdown – where the train goes into a tunnel and we ride over the downs with great views. \nWarlingham and Chelsham – then along the bike lane on side of the Limpsfield Road \nBotley Hill – super Surrey Hills views – almost as high as Leith Hill \nClackett Lane\, with a lovely view of the M25 Motorway Services \nLimpsfield Chart\, planned rest break on the green. Then idyllic paved bridleway and quiet lanes along Oast House Kent/Surrey borders \nLingfield by the Race Track \nDormansland \nCowden \nHartfield\, suitable pub stop\, to get ready to conquer Ashdown Forest \nMaresfield. and we are nearly there \nUckfield \n(I think that is enough\, but you could ride on to Seaford for the full 60 miles) \nMeet at Sanderstead Station at 0930\, on the ticket office side. I am offering pre-ride bike maintenance services\, to check tyres/brakes/gears/ and adjust as needed. \nBring plenty of drinks and some picnic eats. If the forecast is to be believed\, also bring sun cream.

DESCRIPTION:An sustrans cycle route along the River Pool and the River Ravensbourne in South East London\, the Waterlink Way takes cyclists from New Beckenham to Greenwich\, touching only a few roads on the way and offering a wealth of parks and green spaces en route. \nMeet at Addiscombe tram stop at 9.00 for an easy\, mostly off-road bike ride. We will be stopping after an hour of cycling at La Delice café at Ladywell.Then we can go on to Greenwich\, or further if we like. If we return from Greenwich\, we would be back by early afternoon\, having done about 20 miles.
