DESCRIPTION:This walk will follow the Greensand Way from Dorking to Reigate\, about 8.5 fairly hilly miles and of course is sure to be muddy in places. \nBring a packed lunch\, but as we will be passing through Brockham and Betchworth there will a chance of a short pub break. There is also a cafe in the park at Reigate. \nMeet at East Croydon station about 9.15 for the 9.34 train to Redhill\, changing there for the 10.00 to Dorking Deepdene. \nBuy a return ticket to Dorking. (probably not worth getting 2 singles as the return is only a little shorter than the outward journey) \nTrains return from Reigate at 06 and 47 past each hour.

SUMMARY:Bike ride along old railway lines from Crawley via East Grinstead to Eridge
DESCRIPTION:Take train to Three Bridges @ 10:18 from East Croydon. \nTrains back from Eridge\, 52 minutes past the hour. \nThe old train tracks are smooth and level\, with gentle gradients\, and would suit cyclists less comfortable in traffic. The surfaces are hard gravel and stone. Getting to East Croydon\, getting out of Three Bridges\, passing through East Grinstead and getting home will still involve a little road riding\, but overall\, expect a car free experience almost all of the way. \nAbout 20 miles ride.

DESCRIPTION:If you fancy a  leisurely afternoon out join Linda at Gatton Park\,  at 1pm to wander amongst 260 acres of parkland and gardens. Gatton Park is based in the Surrey Hills area of outstanding beauty. \nWhat is there to see & do: View the snowdrops\, bird watching\, go on a free guided tour\, partake of tea & cakes \nEntry price is £5.00 \nTravel by train to Redhill Station\, then the recommendation is to take a taxi (10 mins journey) to the park. Shared taxi’s shouldn’t be expensive. \nOr take the 405 bus to Rocky Lane or Monson Road bus stops and a short walk\, with some uphill. \nAlternatively drive to the park: \nGatton Park\, Reigate\, Surrey\, RH2 0TW \nExit Junction 8\, taking the A217 towards Reigate. After 400 metres fork left onto Gatton Bottom (signposted Merstham). After one mile turn right onto Rocky Lane. The entrance is on the right after a further 400 metres and is signposted Royal Alexandra and Albert School.

We will pass by and visit a series of hidden features. Some hidden from sight\, some hidden in plain sight. \n  \nAfter finding some hidden places in the immediate vicinity of London Bridge\, we will take a mystery trip to a hidden corner of London\, where we will hike on a hidden path for around five miles. \n  \nOur outbound train arrives at London bridge 11:48\, so you can join us there instead. If you’re late or otherwise miss us\, we’ll be in the general area for about one hour\, so you can track is down by phone or other magical means. \n  \nExpect all the walking to be completed in daylight\, before finding a hidden station to take us back on a hidden route to good old Croydon\, by which time it might just have gone dark. All the transport links are within the TFL zones 1-6.

DESCRIPTION:Meet at 9.40am East Croydon Rail Stn to catch 10.03 to Plumpton\, Sussex.\n\nThe walk is around 8 miles\, the bulk of which will be before the lunch stop\, and will include quite a climb up to about 600 feet above sea level*\, then along a short stretch of the South Downs Way before diving back down again to the Half Moon Inn at the foot of the Downs\, south of Plumpton\, for a pub stop.\n\nA bracing walk to help blow out the cobwebs of the old year – and those Brexit Blues (whichever side of the great divide you stood on).\n\nWill try and make the 4.29pm train at the latest train back from Plumpton to East Croydon (but there is a pub fairly nearby the station if needed).

DESCRIPTION:This is a walk which traces Van Gogh’s commute home from his Covent Garden office to his home in Stockwell. \n  \nMeet at East Croydon station in time to catch the 10.34 train to London Bridge then the 10.56 to Charing Cross. \n  \nFirst stop will be room 43 at the National Gallery to see seven of Van Gogh’s paintings including the iconic Sunflowers. We will then stroll to the site of his office then begin our walk through Embankment Gardens\, cross the Thames\, and walk down the A23 passing by the Imperial War Museum. \n  \nLunch stop at The Tommyfield pub around 1pm. Or if you prefer you can bring a packed lunch and have it at Kennington Park. The house is open till 5pm. \nReturn home starting with a tube from Stockwell then a train to Croydon. The total distance will be about 4 miles.

DESCRIPTION:Meet at Crystal Palace Rail Station (MAIN ENTRANCE) from 10am to begin walking at 10.30 \n  \nThe walk will be through the suburbs along mainly quiet roads and through open spaces. We can go as far as anyone wants to walk\, but no further than Happy Valley. \n  \nThe distance is about ten miles but it is possible to stop at any point if you want to finish and go home as there are plenty of transport links along the way. From Happy Valley\, there is 466 or 60 bus back into Croydon. \n  \nBring a drink and a packed lunch although there are many places en route to drink or eat. \n  \nTRANSPORT ‘HEALTH’ WARNING: You won’t be able to get to Crystal Palace Rail Station by train on Sunday. One way is to go by train from East Croydon to Norwood Junction and get the bus (including 157) to Crystal Palace. OR go to WEST Croydon Bus Station and catch the bus (including 157) to Crystal Palace. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:This is a circular walk starting and finishing at Northolt underground station.\n\nThis walk includes a section of the Hillingdon trail\, and  almost 3 miles of the grand union canal.  Stopping points are at a Marina on the grand Union canal\, and the Crown pub in Northolt village towards the end.\n\nThere is a Moated site that dates back to the 13th century\, that was demolished and has a plaque.  We will be stopping on route for a break.  Please bring a packed lunch.\n\nMeet at East Croydon at 10.10 for the 10.19 to London Victoria\, then we take the the underground.  We aim to arrive at Northolt station at 11.30.

DESCRIPTION:This will be about 12 miles on the North Downs\, quite hilly\, starting and finishing at Merstham. \nTo get there you can take the 405 bus leaving West Croydon at 9.00am\, or from Fairfield Halls about 3mins later\, taking 34 mins Merstham. \nOr you can take the 9.42 train from East Croydon\, calling at Purley 9.46\, Coulsdon S. 9.51 and Merstham 9.56. \nBring a packed lunch\, but there will be a refreshment stop at Reigate Hill\, (tea & coffee\, snacks) a pub stop and another chance for a break at Reigate Hill on return to Merstham. \nGoing home the 405 bus is every half hour and one train each hour.

DESCRIPTION:Challenge yourself to a 15 and a half mile walk and in the process see this year’s Gatliff 25km route. \n  \nPleasant\, changing countryside in East Surrey and West Kent. \n  \nMeet at East Croydon railway station at 8am with packed food and drink to keep you going. \n  \nThere is a pub two thirds of the way around but no time to grab a meal there just a drink and use the facilities.  Help try out the draft Gatliff route instructions (but note we do walk as a group).  Bail out at Cowden after 10.5 miles if you prefer (add 1.5 miles to station).
