SUMMARY:Bentley to Farnham Walk & Wild Swimming
DESCRIPTION:This is a 13 mile walk with a swim at Great Frensham pond.  The pond looks natural but is artificial\, it was dug out in the Middle Ages for the Bishop of Windsor as a fish pond.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe meet at 0915 for the 0934 to Clapham Junction arriving at 0944.  We then catch the 10.00 to Bentley arriving at 11.02.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe walk though a forest and then pick up the Shipwrights way path.  We then continue to our lunch stop at Frensham Great pond\, here you can swim\, I am hopeful the pond is not too dry for a full swim. \n\n\nI have been told that the pond can dry out in Summer\, a paddle is still possible.  \n\n\nThere is a cafe here too\, where we can get a meal.  Dogs are welcome.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe then continue to Farnham on the second part of our walk\, we pass Moor Park House which is not open to the public\, it does have a notice board.  We also see the remains of a WW2 pilbox.\n\n\n \nThe trains from Farnham run every half an hour on our return journey.

DESCRIPTION:An easy 9 mile walk from Worthing to Littlehampton\, via Rustington along the coast. Bring a packed lunch. There is the possibility of a swim in the sea\, so bring your swimming stuff if you are interested. Meet at East Croydon station at 09:45 to catch the 10:03 train to Worthing\, which arrives at 11:08. The return is from Littlehampton so buy a return ticket to Littlehampton.  The walk includes an invite to a buffet tea at Anne’s in Rustington\, so please bring a change of footwear.

DESCRIPTION:Meet at East Croydon at 0940 for 0953 train to Emsworth.  10 miles around an MOD owned island.\nThis Island was used by the RAF in 1935\, in 1984 it was taken over by the Army and is today a base for the Royal Artillery Regiment.\nIt’s a mix of open grass land and reed beds.\nThe site has a mix of ornithology we could see short eared howls and other bird life.\nThere is a chance to see the church\, this is kept locked.\nWe will stop at the yacht club for lunch\, you can get a drink and rest here.\nThis is a great day out and is not to be missed.\nDogs welcome.

SUMMARY:Associates Weekend\, Derbyshire
DESCRIPTION:A hostel weekend away in Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park. We will be staying at the Glenorchy Centre\, a Grade II Listed building located in a conservation area in Wirksworth. \nWirksworth is an historic market town with access to spectacular countryside. The Cromford & High Peak trail\, Arkwright Mills and the Cromford canal are not far away. The town is well supplied with shops selling anything from clothes to locally-produced food\, fair-trade presents to books\, and antiques to old-fashioned sweets. \nWe have booked the whole hostel\, and with 26 beds\, there is plenty of room. It has all the usual facilities\, including bed linen. \nPublic transport is by E. Midlands trains\, from St. Pancras to Derby and then by bus to Wirksworth. \nThe accommodation will cost will arond £35.00 if we get about 20 people and catering would be about £10-£12 payable on the day.

DESCRIPTION:London opens it’s often inaccessable and rarely open gardens to the public. Always good fun as we travel from garden to garden using the best form of public transport available (almost a geek’s tour!). Beware\, lots of walking involved too. \nWe will put together a rough itinerary to make best use of our time and try to vary the gardens we visit. There are often oportunites to pick up food from stalls for lunch\, but would advise bringing something to eat with you. There may be an opportunity to stop in London for a meal in the evening. \nIf you want to come you can buy your ticket online for £15.00. If you buy it on the day it is £20.00. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 14 mile circular walk from Overton\, Hampshire exploring the Test River Valley and walking on Watership Down\, inspiration for Richard Adam’s book of the same name. \nFrom Overton\, we will walk to Hannington\, where we will have our first pub stop at The Vine. We then go onto Watership Down and stop at the gallops for a lunch break.\nWe then go along a back road\, and take footpaths back to the train station. A paddle is possible in the river. \nMeet at 0940 at East Croydon Station. We will get the 0951 train to Clapham Junction\, then the 1022 to Overton arriving at 11.15. There is a free car park at the train station for those that wish to drive. Dogs are welcome on this walk. \nSo come along to have a great day out and see where the book Watership Down was thought of.

SUMMARY:Azaleas in Bloom
DESCRIPTION:A COPSE walk to the Isabella Plantation and Richmond Park to see the surreal and psychedelic wonders of the blooming Azalea bushes. If you have never seen the Azaleas\, then it is definitely worth a trip. If you have seen them\, then I imagine that you would want to see them again. It’s quite a short season in bloom\, so if you miss it\, you need to wait another year.   \nAssemble at East Croydon Station at 09:40 for the 09:52 train to Clapham Junction\, then the 10:21 from Clapham Junction to Norbiton arriving 10:37. From Norbiton\, we will walk up to and through the park to the Plantation (direct route around 30 minutes)\, and then around a 1 hour walk over to Richmond. We may take a more scenic route with stops which will add to these walking times. There are frequent trains back from Richmond to East Croydon. Richmond riverside might be worth passing on the way home. \nThere is an alternative option to drive\, with parking in the park near to the plantation at “Spankers Hill” car park or to cycle over from Croydon\, approx 10 miles. Meet the walkers at Isabella Plantation at 11:30am. \nAlso options to cycle over\, around 10 miles from Croydon.

SUMMARY:South Downs Walk
DESCRIPTION:A roughly ten mile walk along the South Downs from Polegate to Eastbourne Old Town and rail station\, with a stop at Jevington around lunch time\, a chance for a pool swim at the end for a lucky\, plucky few\, and an optional pub visit after that. \nJevington has a pub (Eight Bells) and a Tea Garden\, the latter might make a change as there is an optional pub at end. At Old Town Eastbourne (which is about a mile inland from the seaside resort) there will be a chance to go for a swim at Motcombe pool with a friendly little ‘naturist’ swim group – as the ‘name on the tin’ suggests no cozzies are worn at this session and it is the very best way to go swimming. I can only take about 2 or 3 people with me on the swim\, so indicate your interest asap\, or wait till the day\, and take your chances. You’ll need a towel and £5 entry. The pool is not full size\, but certainly good enough for proper swimming – it has a steady shallow end\, and then a steep drop into a good deep end. \nFor those not swimming\, there is a pub\, The Lamb Inn\, nearby\, one of the oldest in the area and country. They also do food for a pretty reasonable price.  \nMeet East Croydon Railway Station in good time to catch the 9.03am train to Polegate. You will need a day return to Eastbourne.

DESCRIPTION:A 4 hour linear walk from Seaford to Eastbourne and then a bus back to Seaford. One pub en route in Birling Gap. Bring snacks and drinks. \nMeet in East Croydon to depart for Seaford at 9:30am by car\, around 70 minutes journey. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a nice day out in Hertfordshire. Walk along the Nickey Trail from Harpenden and then onto St Albans down the Ver Colne Walk. \nAt St Albans\, we can either spend some time in St Albans or continue onto Radlett. \nThe main walk is 8 miles\, the extension to Radlett is another 6 to 7 miles. \nMeet at East Croydon Station at 8:50 for the 09:03 train to London and then a train from St Pancras.
