Lee Valley and Waltham Abbey

Saturday 24th October @ 9:30 am to 5:00 pm

Hello all

We will not be going to Epping Forest this weekend, instead, we will be heading to Lee Valley Park and Waltham Abbey.

Highlights include

–          Waltham Abbey Church

–          Abbey remains, surviving gatehouse and bridge

–          The Abbey Gardens

–          King Harold’s memorial stone

–          Epping Forest District Museum

–          The Greenwich Meridian line

Also, sculptures, wildlife and rapids!

Where to meet

Meet at East Croydon Train Station at 9.45

The train departs East Croydon at 10.01 and arrives at Farringdon at 10:26

From Farringdon, we will make our way to Liverpool Street Station to catch the 10:54 Greater Anglia Service to Cheshunt arriving at 11.14

Cheshunt is in Zone 8 (within the Oyster Fare Zone)

Toilets and food stops available along route.

Weather: Light rain possible during daylight and a gentle breeze.

Terrain: Flat, gravel, tarmac and grass.

Once we arrive at Cheshunt, we are literally at Lee valley and the start of our walk.

We will either do a circular walk, taking us back to Cheshunt train station or divert to Waltham Cross depending on the time or depart from Enfield Lock train station (if we go to Gunpowder Park, a former Ministry of Defence testing range).
