St Georges Day – Trafalgar Square

Sunday 19th April @ 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
The celebration
The Day is a celebration organized by the London Mayor and is a free event in Trafalgar Square running from 12.00 to 6.00. There will be live music, dancing, workshops . crafts and food stalls. The last act last year was a five-piece folk band with a caller and dancing in the square attended by some of the Chelsa pensioners who were really joining in.
After the celebration
After the event we can go for a meal in Chinatown or go to the Hippodrome which is a really interesting place to visit with the history of its various incarnations over the years from the Talk of the Town, Stringfellows to its current use. There is a very good Chinese restaurant in the basement which I would like to try.
I am not intending we will go for the full six hours but for the second half of the afternoon.
Where to meet
Meeting Time : 2.00 at East Croydon. We will get a train to Charing Cross and head straight to Trafalgar Square. The forecast is not looking great at the moment but hopefully will change.
