Lewes Folk festival

Saturday 13th October 2018

Free annual event with folk dance displays  by twenty Morris/border/rapper There are lots of other folk events that day (entry prices for some) + for further info, check out http://www.lewesfolkfest.org Meet at  East Croydon station from 9.30  with a view to get the 10.03 direct train (arrives at Lewes 10.53) Trains at 03 + 33 past for any late comers.

Visit the Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Neasden

Sunday 20th January

Visit the Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Neasden - by bike and on foot.   Cyclists take the train to Victoria and ride up through North West London to the temple, mainly along canal side paths.   Others can walk there from Willesden Junction, and we can all meet up there. 30 minute train to Willesden Junction and 30 minute walk to temple.   Followed by optional walk/ ride through to "Welsh Harp" reservoir and home from Hendon on Thameslink, or…

Walk Crystal Palace to Streatham, Pub Meal and Streatham Ice Hockey

Sunday 27th January

Meet in front of Crystal Palace station at 11.00 Visit Crystal Palace museum (free entry). Stop for a drink at The Postal Order Wetherspoon pub in Westow Hill. Walk to Streatham Common along the Capital Ring (four miles). Meal at The Bull pub (498 Streatham High Road) before going to see Streatham Redhawks v Bracknell Bees. Match starts at 6.45 Tickets -  Adults £12 Senior Citizens and students £7

Visit to London Docklands Museum & Meal

Sunday 3rd February

Meet East Croydon 9.20am for the 9.40 train to London Bridge, then the Tube to Canary Wharf followed by a 15 minute pleasant water ways walk to the Museum. Free entry to the museum, the galleries include the Roman era & all displays are very well presented. Late lunch at Wetherspoons in the adjoining customs house building  before recommencing the Museum experience. Guided tours are available.

Visit to the Battle of Britain Bunkers, Uxbridge

Saturday 9th February

Meet at Victoria station (concourse beside Gatwick Express platform area 13&14) at 10.30 and then travel by underground. We aim to join  the 12.30 tour and have lunch afterwards before undertaking a stroll around the visitor centre. There are combined entrance tickets @ £7.00 for the bunker tour and visitor centre. Or for the visitor centre only @ £4.00.

Walk around the City of London to see the new developments, 4 miles

Sunday 24th February

Meet from 10.10am at East Croydon station to get the 10.34am Thameslink train which arrive at Blackfriars at 10.54am.   We will then follow a City of London leaflet called "Design of the times" to look at thirty new buildings going clockwise from St Paul’s Cathedral to include the Gherkin, Natwest tower The Cheesegrater, The Scalpel, Lloyd's building plus the Walkie Talkie.   Hopefully there will be a pub stop at a very prestigious Wetherspoons (the Crosse Keys)
